75’s Teams
My initial reaction to 75’s cricket was that I didn’t want to play under restricted rules. I changed my mind after playing in a testimonial game last season for 92 year old Doug Crowell from Tamworth who is still playing. It was the camaraderie that convinced me to play.
75’s has modified rules to make it easier on the body, they are:
Games are 36 overs for each team.
Bowling can be done in blocks of 9 overs from each end.
Batters face 24 balls before retiring, no run limit.
Bowlers are limited to 6 overs.
Batters can be recycled and bowlers may have 3 extra overs when recycled batsmen return.
No fielding restrictions
75’s have been playing for almost 2 seasons starting with 4 teams made up from different regions, there are 8 teams nominated for this season.
This season will be our first as a team but quite a few of us have played before with other regions.
All games are played at Gloucester as 2 day carnivals usually on a Monday and Tuesday, our first games are 30th September and 1st October. There will be an end of season game at Wagga or ACT against Victoria and possibly inclusion in the Cooper Finlay Cup challenges.
